Mendocino Bloom
Hello friends,
It’s always a wonderful feeling when my life gives me time to create a new blog. Alot of things have been going on, and sometimes it feels like I’ll never have a large enough chunk of time to dedicate to blogging. Then suddenly the clouds part and time is suddenly available.
Thanks for your patience with my blogging journey. I hope that you will enjoy the wonderful Mendocino bloom with me this beautiful month of June!
I feel so lucky to live along the coast in Fort Bragg, California. Mendocino is just 10 minutes away and we often find ourselves meandering around its charming village.
Recently we spent some time on the headlands overlooking the sea. The wildflowers were rampant. Lupins, mustard, poppies, and many other wildflowers poked their heads between the grasses and ferns creating a gorgeous carpet.
All this beauty excites my mind and stimulates creativity. This month I am sharing a watercolor painting that captures a little of the essence of the joy of the Mendocino bloom.
This is a smaller painting, about 8X10 on canvas. I’m enjoying trying out watercolor on canvas. It has been interesting to see how the pigments react in this new environment.
As you can see in this closeup, the canvas creates a texture that watercolor paper cannot give.
I love the charm of the old cottages and their flourishes of color.
If you’re thinking about a trip to Mendocino, California, now is a perfect time. We are awash with color.
Thanks for joining me once again in the joy of creativity and love of the simple pleasures that surround us. I hope you’re finding time to enjoy the beauty of nature that surrounds you.
I always enjoy your comments. Thanks so much for taking the time to let me know you read the blog. It’s a great encouragement.
