Merry Mendocino

Merry Mendocino
Sometimes life has a habit of flooding over you and rushing you along in its overwhelming tide.
— Witi Ihimaera, The Whale Rider

Thanks so much for taking the time to support me and this blog.  I chose this quote this month, because it summarizes my life up in the last few years.  Maybe you can relate to these sentiments.  I am so thankful for art and the release it gives me from "the overwhelming tide."

This month I wanted to share with you my painting, Merry Mendocino.  It is a very festive painting, and my hope is that it will bring a little smile to your face and a measure of happiness to you in this moment in time.

I feel so lucky to live by the sea.  Just like this couple resting here, I gather much comfort from the sound of the waves in my ears and with the crisp breeze on my face.

Living near Mendocino has always been a dream, and I pinch myself each time I realize that my dream has come true.

festive mendocino

It has always been a dream to paint Mendocino.  One weekend I was walking around the bluffs of Mendocino when this perspective came into view.  I was struck by the composition of the scene and also by the festive feeling of the town.  It was the time of the annual Music Festival, and the white tents and bunting were irresistible to paint.  I hope that you can feel the joy I had in each brushstroke.

I am so proud of this little pink naked lady.  This is the first time I've had one bloom in my garden, and for me its brave shape and design is a lovely symbol of hope and renewal.

Thank you for taking the time to read this month's blog.  Please subscribe, if you haven't already, take the time to leave a comment, and share this with your friends.  God bless!
