Hello.  My name is Lanette Marie Anderson.  You will see that I paint under the name L. Marie.  This is because it is a pet name that my husband gave to me years ago.  Somehow it stuck.  I began signing my paintings with L. Marie because mainly I liked the way it appeared on the paper.  My full name was just too long and painful to attempt to sign in watercolor.  

I've been painting watercolor now for about 20 years.  Isn't it interesting how certain experiences change your life?  I walked into the home of a friend of mine who is a watercolor artist.  I had never really been around art much and had no idea that it would even appeal to me.  As soon as I turned the corner and saw her applying pigment to paper, I was hooked.  I think I surprised her, and I certainly surprised myself with how addicted I became to watercolor.

Probably the best advice I received from her was if I wanted to learn to become a watercolor artist, I just needed to do it and do it and do it.  LOL!  Well, it turned out to be the best advice I could have received.  I ended up beginning a line of original watercolor products that sold in a boutique called "The Paper Cottage. " From there my love of watercolor painting has grown to be an all-consuming passion.  Thanks for your interest in my journey.
