Morning's Light

Morning, Friends. Have you had your cup of coffee yet? Hope you’re feeling great and ready to face the day. Today I’ve decided to share with you one of my favorite paintings. This painting evokes so many memories and sentiments in me, and to me that’s what a painting should do.

THERE ARE DAYS WHERE IT IS SIMPLY ALL ABOUT THE COFFEE. YOU RUSH OUT THE DOOR, SPILLING THE COFFEE, WORRIED ABOUT — WELL, WORRIES.

THEN THERE ARE DAYS WHERE YOU CAN SLOW IT DOWN. YOU SIP YOUR COFFEE SLOWLY, MAYBE WITH A FRIEND, MAYBE IN THAT BLISSFUL SOLITUDE AN EARLY MORNING CAN EVOKE. YOU BECOME CONSCIOUS OF YOUR BREATHING, AND YOU REALIZE LIFE IS REALLY PRETTY GOOD.

IT’S ONE OF THOSE MORNINGS WHERE YOU CAN JUST LET THE FLOWERS DO THEIR THING. YEAH, WE CAN LET THE FLOWERS BLOOM TODAY. TODAY’S GOT THE POTENTIAL TO BE A GREAT DAY.

AHHH! YES, THERE THEY ARE. WHY DO FLOWERS DO WHAT THEY DO TO ME? I KNOW IT’S NOT JUST ME.

THEY ARE JUST SO QUIETLY, GENTLY PERSISTENT. EVEN IF, LIKE THE HUMBLE GERANIUM, THEY SHOUT WITH THEIR FULL-CONCENTRATE COLORS, THEY DON’T DEMAND. YOU CAN CHOOSE TO IGNORE THEM, YOU CAN WALK ON BY, YOU CAN LOOK THE OTHER WAY, YOU CAN EVEN STEP ON FLOWERS.

FLOWERS NEVER GIVE UP TRYING. YEAH, THEY DO DIE, BUT SO IS THE CIRCLE OF LIFE. THE SCENT STAYS WITH YOU AND CHOOSES TO NEVER LEAVE. WHEN THE FLOWER BLOOMS AGAIN, THERE IT IS. IT’S STILL THERE FOR YOU.

SOMETHING ABOUT THE QUALITY OF MORNING’S LIGHT IS SO EQUISITE THAT EVEN THE MOST CURMUDGEONLY AMONGST US IS CHEERED. LIGHT STREAMING THROUGH A WINDOW, THE CURTAINS, THE FOREST, THE PICKET FENCE, WHATEVER, ALWAYS HAS THE POWER TO CHANGE OUR MOOD AND LIFT THE SPIRITS.

AND THEN THERE IS THE WATERING CAN. WHAT EMOTIONS DOES THAT EVOKE FOR YOU? FOR ME IT EVOKES LAUGHING CHILDREN IN RUBBER BOOTS, PLANTING BULBS IN SPRING, WATERING THE NEWLY BLOOMING PEONY, GIVING THE ROSES AN EXTRA BOOST. THAT HUMBLE CAN BRINGS LIFE. HOW CURIOUS AND AWESOME A VESSEL.

How’s your artistic and creative journey coming? Do you feel inspired? My hope is that by sharing my artistic journey, you will be inspired. Maybe your thing isn’t watercolor. Maybe you like to knit, sing, dance, fix a car, paint a house. Cool! Just do it. If playing the banjo makes your heart sing, then get it out and dust it off.

Why am I so insistent in this matter? Well, I believe way too much money is being spent on psychotherapy today. Too many drugs are eating out our livers and being chased down our gullets.

My wish is to be there for you. I don’t know how to be. I haven’t figured out how to be the kind of friend I wish to be, but I can offer you the warmth and joy that being creative can bring. It soothes, heals, inspires, encourages — all the things I want to do for you, my friend.

This painting inspires me. I have shown you how every corner has a little something of my life experience that has brought me joy. I hope that you have enjoyed exploring Morning’s Light with me. Thanks so very much for reading my blog and being there for me. I appreciate you more than I can say.

Whoever you are, thanks for being my friend, my acquaintance, my fellow lover of art, my companion. I wish you a wonderful day. Breathe deep, my friend. We are so very lucky to be alive.
